My Approach

I stay current with evidence-based strategies to provide the best care possible. I am a certified SPEAK OUT! Provider through the Parkinson Voice Project, specializing in voice therapy for individuals with Parkinson's disease.

I continually expand my skills in areas including dysphagia management and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) to serve a wide range of needs.

Specialized Areas of Practice

Voice Therapy & Vocal Rehabilitation

SpeechbyCC specializes in voice therapy and vocal rehabilitation for adults and older teens.

About 1 in 13 U.S. adults have experienced a voice problem in the past year.

As both a classically trained singer and licensed SLP, I bring a deep understanding of vocal mechanics and artistry to every session.

I provide virtual voice therapy for:

  • Vocal fatigue or hoarseness
  • Voice loss after illness (including COVID-19 or laryngitis)
  • Muscle tension dysphonia
  • Aging voice changes
  • Post-surgical vocal rehabilitation
  • Voice strain from professional use (teachers, performers, speakers)

Whether you're a performer, teacher, or simply want to feel confident using your voice again, I offer evidence-based assessments and personalized treatment plans—all available virtually.

Cognitive-Communication Therapy

Attention, Memory, Executive Functioning

I provide cognitive-communication therapy for adults experiencing changes in memory, attention, processing speed, or problem-solving—whether from brain injury, stroke, long COVID, neurodegenerative conditions, or aging.

With experience in outpatient and skilled nursing settings, I offer evidence-based therapy tailored to your daily life: managing schedules, recalling names, staying focused at work, or communicating clearly under pressure.

I can help if you're experiencing:

  • Memory difficulties (short-term or working memory)
  • Trouble following conversations or multitasking
  • Word-finding issues
  • Slowed thinking or difficulty staying organized
  • Challenges with planning, reasoning, or problem-solving
  • Cognitive fatigue or "brain fog" following illness (COVID-19, FND)
  • Cognitive changes related to mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia

All services are virtual with flexible evening and weekend scheduling. Each plan begins with a detailed assessment and personalized therapy roadmap.

Language Skills: Work, Literacy & Social Communication

Occupational Language, Literacy, & Social Communication

Communication is more than forming words—it's understanding others, keeping up with conversations, and having confidence to engage with friends, coworkers, or family.

Many clients come to me after losing confidence in social interactions: trouble following group conversations, remembering recent news, or knowing when to jump in.

Therapy targets:

  • Auditory and reading comprehension
  • Retelling and summarizing information
  • Word-finding and sentence organization
  • Understanding sarcasm, humor, and nuance
  • Rebuilding confidence in small talk and social storytelling
  • Memory strategies for current events
  • Social-pragmatic skills: turn-taking, topic maintenance, interpreting cues

Sessions help you reconnect with your voice and feel confident in both one-on-one and group interactions.

Fluency Disorders & Functional Communication

I offer support for fluency disorders such as stuttering, as well as communication difficulties related to anxiety or functional neurological disorder (FND).

These challenges affect how confidently someone communicates—especially in high-pressure situations. Therapy is compassionate, client-centered, and tailored to your unique needs.

Therapy may focus on:

  • Strategies to reduce tension and increase fluency
  • Identifying and managing communication triggers
  • Speech pacing and breath support techniques
  • Education and desensitization approaches for FND
  • Building confidence in everyday speaking situations

If you're seeking stuttering therapy for adults, support for anxiety-related communication challenges, or virtual speech-language services for FND, I provide a thoughtful, evidence-based approach.

Dysphagia Consulting for Adults & Caregivers

In addition to therapy services, SpeechbyCC offers private outpatient consulting calls for adults and caregivers seeking expert guidance on swallowing concerns (dysphagia). Whether you're navigating diet changes after a recent diagnosis, managing safety concerns at home, or feeling unsure about next steps after hospital discharge, these one-on-one calls are designed to provide practical, personalized support.

Consulting topics may include:

  • Understanding swallowing precautions or diet modifications
  • Strategies for safer mealtimes at home
  • Questions about FEES/MBS reports
  • Managing dry mouth, coughing, or pharyngeal discomfort
  • Guidance between formal therapy or medical evaluations

These calls are educational in nature and NOT a substitute for an instrumental evaluation—but they can offer reassurance, clarity, and expert insight from a licensed SLP with medical experience in outpatient or nursing home/SNF settings.

Ideal for individuals, caregivers, or adult children of aging parents.

What Motivates Me

What truly motivates me every day is seeing my clients succeed. There is nothing more rewarding to me than helping someone regain a skill they feared was lost – whether it's a grandfather saying his grandchild's name clearly after a stroke, or a young adult finally speaking up confidently in a work meeting.

I cherish those "lightbulb moments" and victories (big and small) that make a real difference in someone's daily life.

I also understand that the journey to better communication can be challenging, so I believe in celebrating progress, practicing patience, and even finding moments to smile or laugh. Some chapters in life can be really tough, but I'm a firm believer that we're here to help one another and do our best each day.

Payment & Insurance

SpeechbyCC operates on a private-pay basis. I do not bill insurance directly, but I'm happy to provide documentation to help with reimbursement.

How It Works:

  • Attend your therapy session
  • Receive invoice weekly (sent Saturdays)
  • Pay securely online (credit/debit accepted)
  • Get your superbill automatically for insurance reimbursement

A Final Note

(for those who read the fine print, like me)

I work hard because I believe in living well—and I want the same for every client I support. Whether I'm targeting speech, language, memory, or voice, the bigger picture is always quality of life (QOL). That includes good food, good music, laughter, nature, connection, and the ability to fully show up in your world—even during the hard stuff.

Here's the real truth: I want every client to feel seen, supported, and empowered—not just as a therapy goal, but as a whole person. Because thriving isn't a luxury. It's the baseline.

Therapy with me isn't about what society deems is "success"—it's about helping you stay connected to what makes life worth living.
